Experience thrilling matches in “Wars of the Roses – The Rose King” – either against your friends, players worldwide or against the AI in the campaign mode. Which player will apply the best tactics and get the right cards?

Wars of the Roses is a card game about influence and territories. It is set in 15th-century England where two families – the House of York under the white rose and the House of Lancaster under the red rose – are fighting a fierce war for the English crown. Which family can seize upon more territories – and thus more influence – than the other? With the right tactics it’s up to you to decide in the rose war.
Exciting medieval board game tactics based upon the classic and awarded original board game by Dirk Henn.
There are three very important rules that are easy to learn:

I. To claim a territory, use the might cards to move the king’s crown in the direction and over the distance indicated.
II. Use one out of four heroes at your disposal to snatch a previously claimed territory from your enemy.
III. The player who controls the largest coherent territory at the end of the game wins the game.

Wars of the Roses can be played against the computer, with friends either on the same device or via Bluetooth, or via the internet with players from all over the world.

Compare your tactics skills to members of the global Wars of the Roses community with the aid of the scoreboard and the achievements available in the Game Center.

Pros and cons of Wars of the Roses - Rosenkönig app for iPhone and iPad

Wars of the Roses - Rosenkönig app good for

I have only begun to play the app, and I enjoy it. It does have a good discussion of the rules. It could use a tutorial though. I am having difficulties in figuring out how to play the hero cards, not necessarily when, but the mechanics of how to play them. Otherwise a good app.
Simple like checkers and deeply strategic against the right opponent.
Fun game, good AI. Great for a quick game. Campaign is great too.

Some bad moments

It won the first two games, then the next game I was winning and it crashed!! Same for the one after that, crashed! Why doesnt it remember where we left off? It doesnt make me want to play when it always crashes as I am about to win!
Im a fan of the original board game and am glad to see it on ios. Ive only played vs easy AI and it works well. The graphics, sounds, and music are all nicely thematic without being annoying. Havent tried multiplayer yet. Only room for improvement I see at this time is that the print/font for the rules is kinda small and hard to read. But I do love that the rules are presented top-down (ie explain scoring *before* how to play a turn. Bravo!). All game rules should be explained that way.
Yes this is fine except that when the ai is facing unfavorable strategic calls it gives up and stops playing. When working, this is a good game.
This game is boring. It is nice to look at, but it is not very fun. It is basically checkers with cards that dictate your moves. A game that charges as much as this one does should be one that I do not want to put down. Unfortunately after playing the game a handful of times, Im ready to delete it.
I think there might be a good game here, but a very confusing interface has made me give up after half an hour. Terrible menu system, difficult to understand hot spots. Cant tell what is scoring and what isnt. Some images swipe but not fully. This is an amateurish production. Too bad, I get the feeling the board game was good and this could be fun on the iPad. Maybe they will revamp the interface and menu system in a future version. How could anyone think this was ready for sale and at $4 n less?!
There is about 4 to 8 hours of game play in the campaign. I have not seen any players online for automatch, maybe the game is still too new. When I first started playing the game, I could not figure out what I was supposed to do, which is a cardinal sin in an app. I finally worked out that you click on the card once to preview a move and a second time to play that card, and that the battle/knight resources are spent automatically when your move is onto the other sides pieces. The draw deck is hard to find as well, since the card backs have dark backgrounds and are drawn on top of a dark background. The key mechanic of this game is that you see both players cards, so you can maneuver in such a way that your opponent cannot move, which is advantageous. One thing that would help would be to get help text when you click on various sections of the game. Another thing that would help would be if the campaign modes first scenario had a tutorial built into it. Once you get past the confusing user interface, there is a decent board game here, but nothing special. I think if you liked the board game, you will like this game.
